LPD Basketball 2006-2007

Okay guys--let's see some predictions. Here's what I'm looking for:

District standings predictions
Player of the Year
Coach of the Year
1 or 2 impact players from each team

I'll give my predictions later, just wanted to get a thread started so we could start good conversation about it.

This is a hard year to predict because a lot of the teams will be evenly matched. I think 4 teams have the possibility of winning the LPD -- Burton, Gate City, Powell Valley, and Clintwood. I know most of you will think I'm being biased, but with the experience they have, look for big things.

Impact Players

Appalachia -- Brickey
Burton -- Stewart, Coleman
Coeburn -- uhhhhh......I'm not sure lol Adkins?
Clintwood -- Vanover, Mullins, Slone
Gate City -- Hackney, Anderson
Kelly -- Dotson, Sproles
Pound -- Fleming
Powell Valley -- Pinkston, Mitchell

Coach of the Year: Brian Mills (Clintwood) nobody thinks Clintwood will be able to compete, but coach Mills will have them ready. I know I've criticized before, but he really is a good coach and knows what to do.

Player of the Year: either Hackney or Adkins

boney - I agree 100% with what you are saying about most kids today. No work ethic at all. Most everything handed to them. Not teaching them how to earn anything. Most of the blame has to go to the parents. Coaching is much harder today than ever before because the kids want the uniform but dont want to earn it.

GC is the team to beat, after that who knows. Hackney and Adkins are by far the two best players in the LPD, so they will compete for LPD POY. I'd say Hackney will get it due to him being a Sr. unless Adkins just completley has a year where he's by far the choice. I'm just glad PV has a coach that is showing interest in the program, he was at the future viking games the other night from what I understand. Something that never happened under the old coaching staff.

hackney is not a sr. he is a jr. also, i dont know if parks will be back for the season. its a big maybe

Parks' sister said that he probably would not be back for basketball this year either.

If coaching had that much influence on where a team is ranked J.J. Kelly would be first every year. The only thing that will get the Raiders to finish second in the LPD will be talent.
